Ask Mouse #6

ask-mouse-6

Hey everyone! Another week another topic! Picked by the fans!

This week: Education

I’d like to make a couple important notes though.

One. Let’s not get political with questions like “Do you think [Politician] will fix the education system?”
Two. If you’re not happy with the topic this week, or any week, or just have a great idea for a topic, please come to the forums and suggest one!

So let’s have fun!

Fowo told me not to use the blender without supervision! I think that’s something.

If you had the chance to go to school would you? You must remember that schools usually have dress codes and require you to sit through class listening to a teacher go on about subjects that you may not particularly like (but you usually have to take them anyway). Would you be able to endure sitting through those classes?

I dunno! That doesn’t sound like much fun at all. Why do people go to school if they have to do all that?

I had two fun teachers last year. One had us doing hands-on labs to learn about science and the other made the class entertaining with jokes and movies.

If you went to school with FW what class would you like the most? (not lunch)

Middle/High school doesn’t have that.

Would you go to Fowo’s school if you had the chance?

I dunno, from what Odahai said it doesn’t sound like much fun.

If i told you there were some fun things (like meeting new people, learning all sorts of neat things, and possibly art class) would you change your mind?

Art class? That sounds at least somewhat fun. But can’t I just do that same stuff at home?

Ah… lemme tell ya some things you can do there that you CAN’T do at home. You get to meet new people, make new friends (already said), meet up with old friends EVERY DAY. You all know when each other are free, get to talk to each other of what’s going on and how things are. Every day, you can be there for your friends, to laugh and to cry with them.

Also, although you do have to sit through boring classes, there ARE some fun stuff, there are even FOOD classes where you actually learn how to make, cook, AND EAT the food you make (at least, in my school there was)! You do have SOME control over what classes you take, but there are those general classes that you have to take, some of which you’d be surprised to find out that you like

There are also after school activities, which can be fun with friends, or just fun to meet new people with. You know when everyone gets off, so it’s easier to meet up with people, and in general, it’s more active, and you’re not as confined to the house.

As I said, I’m bias because I didn’t like school, but I would go back because, really, it WAS good

Isn’t that why they invented the internet? I can do all that from home and I don’t have to get dressed!

From what I can tell, Wuffie’s school may not have a dress code for Anthros, but all the ones we’ve seen wear clothes from humility.

I must warn ya, I’m a lil’ bias, I didn’t like school that much… If you want me to tell ya about the good stuff, i can though =P… I mean, some people LOVE school (and honestly, if I had the chance, I’d go back)

Actually, I’ll rephrase that in a question appropriate to this topic!

Despite what I said earlier, do you think you’d be able to find anything worth going to school for? There ARE redeeming features of education you know XD.

Mouse Reply:

I dunno! I don’t really know any reason for me to go to school.

Law! I’ve always been interested in the justice system and everything. Plus I get to wear one of those awesome helmets and suits with all the gold and eagles on it. And I get to run around yelling and pointing at people “YOU BETRAYED THE LAW!”

Zaiki Reply:

HOLD IT! Law is very expensive, and often times boring. But it would be fun to yell OBJECTION! and HOLD IT! at every opportunity.

Hey there. I’m back. Sorry if you missed me. Say, Mousey, what’s the best source of education in your opinion? Books? TV? School? Parents? ;3

Internet! I learned just the other day that dinosaurs were killed by The Hulk!

Zaiki Reply:

That’s ridiculous, everybody knows that they didn’t die, they just evolved and made space ships then flew to a different solar system so that lesser creatures could evolve.

The Hulk? Are you serious? I thought it was Chuck Norris.

The Hulk is just Chuck Norris covered in green paint after a bad day.

There are online schools ya know. And none of them have many requirements.

How highly does your family value education, whether formal education or word-of-mouth information passed down through the generations?

Mouse Reply:

I think mostly my parents just let me learn things on my own.

Who woulda known the stove is hot a full 30 times in a row when it’s red!

Well darn! That’s a lot of learning!
And that is what they call consistency. Are you aware of the “tunneling” concept in quantum physics? It could apply to that stove, after all.

S. Weltzin Reply:

See, the difference here is that it’s really cool.

According to the laws of probability, at any given time, a tunnel might randomly open up beneath you, suck you up, and spit you out somewhere else in the universe. Very slim chance, but it could happen.

Likewise, a red stove -may- at some point -not- be hot, so keep on trying!
