#108- “…What does this have to do with gravity?”

See, I would have actually liked Chemistry if we got to blow up things more often… :P

And so the orientation starts to wind to a close…And what’s this? The entire school day itself might be changing? I dunno who’s bright idea it was to have it run like…Well, however it was before, but maybe this way will work out better.

We might get to see some new teachers for once too. :P

I hope everyone’s week went well! I start my internship on Monday, so…Yikes, not sure what to think about that. I am excited of course, but I’m not sure how it’ll impact the site here. Hopefully not much at all.

See, people screwing around and wanting to blow stuff up is why I disliked Chemistry.. >.>;

Hooray new teachers! Annd..umm…not really sure what else to say, just too tired.. ^^;

But good luck with your internship, I’m sure you’ll do fine with it. :) And whatever happens happens, I’m sure you can figure out how to work around things and be able to still be able to make some sorta update or another. :)

A programming internship! I think we’re designing web pages…

And yep! The classic Looney Tunes explosives bit! :P

what it has to do with gravity?

well if we had way less gravity she could have caught the drop before it falls into the glassbowl.

Hah, that’s a good point! :P Didn’t that happen in Mission Impossible or something? Though that was sweat I think.

That reminds me of a poster in my chem class, it was of a labador wearing goggles and it said “Goggles are Lab Equipment” X3 made me giggle everytime…and I know the internship will be wonderful! *hugs tightly!* :3 you’ll do just dandy ;D

Yep! With everyone having such large eys they’re kind of a necessity! :P

Internship starts Monday, eh? That’s pretty cool. I’m sure after the first week, you’ll be perfectly comfortable doing it. ‘Til then…courage!

Also: I had a chemistry teacher who showed us sodium’s reaction to water. The ceiling got burnt a bit that year, though not in my class. Funny thing is that he knew what he was doing.
While I’m all for teaching across the curriculum and having teachers know each others’ subjects, it’s probably best to leave the dangerous stuff to those who specialize in it. :3

I had a teacher who showed us that too! We all thought it was pretty awesome, until someone mentioned that salt was sodium. That freaked out a few people…Like me. I thought putting salt on anything with water in it would make it blow up.

Hey, I was little! And not too smart. X3

And thanks! I’ll try my best with it!

And I’m sure “salt water” never crossed your mind at the time. :3
My chemistry class was in high school, so I was old enough to know the difference between Na and NaCl, lucky me. :D

Variations of red never go in variations of green! It generally doesn’t have a pretty result!

admin Reply:

Hmmm…What about variations of blue though?

Zaiki Reply:

Maybe, in that case it depends on what the compounds are.

Hmm, I am finding Ms. Hope rather attractive here; should I be concerned?

Hehe, maybe a little? I’ve heard the “burnt feathers” look is coming back into style though. :P

Must be the glasses. and the ditziness.

It has to do with gravity because when an unexpected explosion sends you 50ft. in the air, you’re gonna be comming back down…….. or is that just GTA?

Reply

admin Reply:

Hey, if that happened you’d be perfectly fine if you landed in a pool! No matter what height you fell from. XD

She should follow her nose, then the colored answer will be clear.

I originally thought to make her a toucan, but I changed my mind and went with a blue jay. :P

We’ve got Sunny D. Milk and Purple stuff……Which should we add to todays experiment? XD

admin Reply:

Oh no, you don’t want to “Unleash the Power of the Sun!”TM in the middle of class like that! D:

Yeah.. Chemistry was fun… although in 8th grade, we DID get to mess around with some thermite and magnesium…

Reply

admin Reply:

Thermite? That sounds kinda dangerous, even though I don’t know what it is. :P

D_Leo Reply:

Mixture of aluminium and iron oxide powders. Once lit up, can burn through pretty much anything. I saw it burn through a car hood, AND the engine block underneath.

Reply

D_Leo Reply:

No offense, but who in their right mind gives thermite to eighth-graders?!

This reminds me of a chemistry class. The teacher wanted to show how reactive metallic Potassium is and was trying to chip a piece off. The Potassium rock went sliding across the counter and into the sink. Luckily, he was an excellent teacher so we evacuated through the door and windows really quick (lab is on the 1st floor). A few seconds later, part of the ceiling was missing.
