#11 – Might have been Important for the “Tour,” but no…
I’m somewhat of a mystery to my family. I don’t know any names of any streets in the area (or anywhere else for that matter), I navigate solely by landmarks. They could spend all day trying to tell me about the new store down on 72nd, or the barber shop on Circue Drive, but I’ll just stare blankly at them until they mention "Oh, its by the Goodwill," or "Yeah, its across from the Burger King."
Maybe I’m just weird, but I blame a lifetime of video games! I couldn’t tell you how to navigate the "mountain maze" area in Zelda 2, or any of the dig sites in Mega Man Legends, but if I saw where you were I could probably point you in the right direction. ;P After all, there’s no "street names" in games! At least, not any of the ones I play.

You’ve played GTA4 ;p. But you’re right, I navigate by landmarks too, just the other day I was thinking that I was weird for doing this as well. Everyone else knows streets, and I’m just like staring blankly at it (though, I’m slowly converting to knowing street names, only because everyone else I talk to uses strictly street names) but I still use landmarks primarily! I think people need to realize that that’s a valid way of navigating, the only downside is if you’re traveling to someone’s house through suburbia. Suburbia is always disorienting, like yesterday when I got lost and kept turning on random suburban streets. Swear everyone probably had my license plate written down for suspicious behavior.
Woo, look at me, I’m rambling too much.

You two aren’t alone! Even with knowing most of the main street names in the area, I still stare blankly whenever anyone tells me where something is! I think it’s a whole lot easier to navigate by landmark than street name… I mean, buildings tend to be large, and signs telling you what street you’re at are small! I dunno how anyone ever manages to get the right intersection.. By the time I can read the sign, I would be too far into the intersection for a proper turn. XP And I seem to convert directions in a way by habit. “We’re going to the movies.” “Oh, what theater?” “The one on division.” “Oh, the one over there past Papa Murphy’s?”

@Mouse: Oh yeeeeeeah, GTA4…Hehe, that’s almost as bad as real life though, its a whole ‘nother city with street names and everything…Its a good thing there’s a GPS on there, otherwise I’d never get anywhere. D: And no worries about rambling, that’s what this comments section is here for!
@Damien: Haha, that’s exactly what I do! I don’t recognize what they’re talking about until its put in terms of what it might be near by, lol. That’s why I think GPS are one of the greatest inventions for finding your way to places, despite not having one of my own quite yet.

I’ll spare repeating what everyone says XD I’m glad I’m not the only one who does this cause it makes me feel kinda dumb when I can’t take directions from streets like everyone else X3

Same here! Though I can’t drive yet (or ever at this rate!!), I do run or skate everywhere I go. If I’m told the street, I’m running all over town looking for it. To make matters worse, later I’d learn that it’s on the other side of town! By the time I get to my friends, I’m exhausted… Blast these twists and turns in town!
