#66 – “…Best 9 out of 16?”

Apparently Damien is Yu-Gi-Oh! Who knew? :P

Hope everyone had a nice weekend, mine was rather busy and a bit stressful (as is usual for my weekends). I’ve got some big projects for this week too, but thankfully they’re all personal ones so its not too much pressure on me. :)

I still need more sleep though, lol.

Also: New Vote Incentive again! :D More late night sketch silliness! :P We almost made it into the top 100 last month, I thank you all for the support! :)

Man now I really wanna know what that bet is. Apperently he is, or just that FW is bad at games. His resigned sigh at the last panel is cute though.

Looks like FW is beat…

Nutbunnies!

Or FW have really bad luck or damien is really good. This game is called “Uno” in english too?
Oh a ” Big projoct”?! maybe more comics? :3

Great motivational, the little FW and the mouse FW are very cute. Who are the person in the down part? Your self-portrait?

admin Reply:

Yep, the game is called “Uno” in English as well, has been for as long as I’ve known about it! And yes, more projects, though these are for other people and not exactly for the website. I’m getting around to those sometime!

Hehe, and thank you, I’m glad you liked the sketches. :) I’ve got tons of silly ones like that. Haha, no, that guy at the bottom isn’t me at all. XD Its the Angry Video Game Nerd! I just drew that because I realized he and FW wear similar clothing. :P

man, I feel sorry for FW. But I know how he feels in the UNO game, it sucks when you are just like 1-2 cards away from winning the round/game but you don’t get it and then your opponent wins the round/game. Good work on the comic. =)

Thanks, I try my best! :)

And yes, Uno is frustrating like that. Its fun to play with my family though, because if one person is about to win, the other players will all start making deals and forming alliances to make sure they don’t win. XD

Our games go on for a very long time, lol.

I know exactly how FW feels: it’s not that he’s bad, it’s that the other person is always that much better… I never win any kind of game! Except chess occasionally, but that’s because other people think too hard :P (and the incentive is really cute! Is that supposed to be you in the bottom left?)

Reply

admin Reply:

Nope, that’s not me at the bottom, its the AVGN, or Angry Video Game Nerd. I was just showing how they dressed sort of similar I think (that one was from last year so who knows what I was thinking at the time, lol).

I think I’m about even with most games I play, except for card games (I’m terrible at those) and possibly Life. Whenever I play that game, my “life” turns out horrible by the end… XD

Accepting defeat is the first step to recovery… or something like that- I have no idea. The more you lose, the more you… I’m clueless. :P Nice job on the comic! I’ve been losing at a lot of things lately, so I can relate. Maybe there’s one more game where FW wins? Who knows… you do! Keep it up!

Reply

admin Reply:

Thanks, I will! And how about, “The more you lose, the more someone else wins!” I dunno, its hard to come up with sayings like that. XD

i voted :3 also is this a white wash for FW? :O

no worries mate, heh, and a white wash is when one side (or in this case person (or fox…whatever >.>)) wins completely, like 5-0 or a flawless victory in MK, which is also a white wash so as you can see..*rambles for two days stright*…and thats how we make robot bananas…wait…what?

It’s time to d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-duel!

The sad thing is this can be annoyingly true to real life. >.> Well..Except with Chess. I’m not usually very good at that one. ^^; And despite my love for them, I don’t seem able to win CCGs super often either. >.> But Checkers, Scrabble, and Uno I have an annoying tendency to never lose. xP Multiple other games too. Always makes me worry no one will want to play with me anymore. :<

*challenges you to chess then!* :P I really debating putting Yugioh hair on Damien in the last panel, just because it’d be so ridiculous looking (I remember in the manga they’d always call him “Star head” and stuff… XD).

I used to play Magic quite a bit! Even made a deck that beat the best player at our school (I think it was a white/green deck), though I stopped playing after someone stole all of my cards out of my backpack. XP I just didn’t want to go through the effort of putting the whole deck back together again!

i just remembered a few years back, I would play Yu-Gi-Oh against one of my friends and he would always beat me. It was mainly because he had a certain card that pretty much made it hard for me to do much just because of what could happen. But I still kept playing with him determined to beat him. I actually some decent cards myself but his cards were still a little better. But by losing, it made me think of strategies I could use to get around and/or stop my friend but I can’t remember how effective they were at the moment. I had fun playing with him though.

admin Reply:

See, that’s what I’ve never really liked about card games like that, it always seemed like the person with the most money, and consequently the greater ability to buy powerful cards was almost always the winner. That just never seemed fair to me, but I suppose its the nature of such games. XP

Though playing with friends was always fun, regardless of who won or lost. Mostly because they wouldn’t mock you needlessly at the end of the game if you lost. :(

Zaiki Reply:

Doesn’t the money thing apply to Monopoly as well?

Reply

admin Reply:

lol XD

Yes, but in Monopoly there’s ways to get money from other people. :P I don’t think Yugi ever beat anyone and then charged them a couple hundred bucks for losing.

Though that would have been pretty funny since he barely ever lost. He’d be rich!

Reply

Zaiki Reply:

How he always won:

Time to chea- er, use the heart of the cards!

He must really suck if he lost when he was cheating… though, until Battle City, nobody even knew HOW to play the game. I mean really, even Tristain said at one point “Does anybody even know the rules the this game?” … It was in Little Kuribo’s abridged series, but he still said it! XD

Reply

admin Reply:

*laughs* Haha, I remember that! XD And yeah, the Millenium Puzzle allowed him to get the card he needed whenever he needed it. :P It just wasn’t fair!

I think the only way he could get beat was by the other person cheating more than he did. :P

Zaiki Reply:

And he would ‘Mind Crush!’ most of the people he defeated, which I’m going to say he used some magic Egyptian laser beams to give the other person a stroke. Which remind me:

Now I’m curious as to what exactly that bet was. One of my first guesses would be having the loser running around the school in their underpants squawking like an idiot, but you probably have something more, shall we say, dubious than that planned. Besides, squawking like an idiot can be a fun passtime, right? Now, being strung up by your toes and balanced on your head, that’s another story…

Zaiki Reply:

…I’m not going to ask how you know what that’s like… mostly because I’m too lazy to call you a psychiatrist.

No worries, it’s not from experience if that’s what’s concerning you. Moreso it’s because I like to, when annoyed with sombebody, threaten to string them up by their toes and balance them on their heads. They never let me do it though, go figure :P

Reply

admin Reply:

I’m not too sure about dubious, but it might be silly and funny in any case. :P And I doubt that there’s very many people who’d actually let you do that to them…Maybe if you tried to string them up by their ankles instead of their toes? ;)

Reply

Ayuka Kitsani Reply:

That is some smart cheating. Extending the rules without breaking the rules. Our bus is really, really dumb though… Seniors get the back seats of the bus. I would like to see that rule in the handbook! Seriously! I am so friggin’ annoyed whenever we get to the last empty seat this senior walks back there and kicks us out! Then to make things worse, Star and I are seperated because the only empty spots left are up in front of the bus are spread apart five or six seats because of the elementary students. Which causes me to get a headache, and I don’t handle well with my head pounding for an hour. Speaking of buses, although I forget how I got on the subject, I really don’t feel safe riding the bus anymore. There’s a substitute driver who just can’t drive worth crap! I mean he’s driving over big bumps causing the bus to bounce sideways and we’re like, three feet from the lake! The bus is going to fall over and then I will have to be forced to do some… violent things… It’s just ridiculous! Well, it’s that time of night. *yawn* good idea with explosives…

admin Reply:

See, video games its worse because you’re more involved and have more control over what might happen. With card games and such, its mostly about luck.

And then with games like Scrabble, it has to do with the luck of what tiles you get, and the brain power of the person using them. Its one thing to lose because you were unlucky, but another to lose cause the other person was smarter than you, lol.

And seeing fw as a kitty was just too cute

Hehehe… best 10 out of 19? Ummm… actually, there could be something wrong with the title… what if both of them win only 8 games? then that would mean 16 games were played and… oh forget it.

Also, It actually looks like FW might could win that Checkers game… he HAS 3 other pieces, if Damien just hit the king, then it’s FW’s turn, meaning he can move that piece that he has that sets up the horrible chain of events (if I’m right to assume FW is on the left, and Damien is on the right), it would only be a matter of time before FW gets his own king or two.

And in UNO, it could easily be that Damien doesn’t have a green, OR FW could change the color with a blue, red or yellow 0, Having Uno isn’t the end of the world, as a matter of fact, it usually ends up with the person calling it to have another color, and is hoping for a small chance that his opponent changes the color.

As for the Yu-gi-oh game… well… I never played that game, I was a Magic: the Gathering fan (still have a ton of cards just sitting around, doing nothing), but I’m sure one trap card isn’t going to ruin the ENTIRE game… But I’ll give that win to Damien

SO! if things went FW’s way… he’d still be down by 1 right now… Damien: 3 (Scrabble, YGO, chess), FW: 2

That’s a better 3/5 Damiens up
[/nitpicky]

Great comic, and I love the voting incentive. And is it just me, or does the Knight in the chess game look like yoshi?

Haha, I actually wrote the title wrong when I was doing the comic. XD Supposed to be either 8 out of 15, or 9 out of 17, either one works better, lol. I’ll keep it though just because its silly. :P And I like to think that they’ve played more games than is shown here, so Damien could be up a whole lot more by the last panel there. FW’s a trooper though, he doesn’t give up to easily!

And thank you, glad you liked the comic! And the voting incentive! And yes, the piece does look like a yoshi for some reason. Think I’ve had them on my mind lately, lol. XD

Wow. Damien’s parents must have read him Sun Tzu and Clausewitz as bed time stories!

“My son, ask for thyself another kingdom, for that which I leave is to small for thee.”
-Phillip of Macedon to his son Alexander

By the way, my mind never made that grim connection but FW’s attire does look like AVGN’s! But our hero is to kind and sweet to be as angry and dirty mouthed as that!

Reply

admin Reply:

*laughs* I wonder if they did read him stuff like that… :P

I’ve made a few other connections with other characters, but yes, FW is nowhere near as angry or foul-mouthed as the AVGN! Which is good cause otherwise the rating on this comic would be R instead of PG, lol.

XP I have to say, we’ve all felt like that someday…
Just a day when you just seem to be out of your luck, or just woke up with a mental block XD
Oh Uno! I have Uno Attack… I love it when it showers cards in my face… XD
Yu-gi-oh?! I rather go with Pokemon… XP
Nice one with the past comic too, really cool…
Has anyone played like that? I have with my cousins or brothers and we get so serious and into it, we all end up laughing in the end…
>.<” Sorry for the long post, i have a rather big mouth… -_-”

Its alright, long posts are good too! :) And we have Uno Attack as well, though its broken because we tried to play it with our younger cousin, who didn’t actually want to play the game, just make the cards shoot out at people. XP So he pounded the button until it broke, lol.

I think Damien would rather go with Pokemon, and even though I like Pokemon, I don’t know enough about it to try and put it in the comic! Not to mention I’m trying to avoid copyrighted material/games. :P

*whew* sorry it took longer to reply than I expected. School’s got me running ragged, and Star got sick. :(

Wow. Either Damien is just that good, or FW is having terrible luck. Good thing he didn’t test his luck and go double or nuthin’. :P I like the first panel where FW stops Damien from telling his score to play another game. Hands shaking like, “No, no, no. Let’s just…er… Do something else.” And I like FW’s sigh at the end! That’s funny! I know Star does that all the time when it comes to attending school. :P (HA! Now they know, and now we’re even!) I could continue, but I must go and deliver some homework so, yeah… Nice comic! :)

I played that game a lot. I had a good ammount of ‘em too, but when I got my good cards stollen in school I totally fell outta playin it. Still fun to ocasionally though! X3

Trap cards…Blegh…I hates ‘em. D:

admin Reply:

Awww, that happened to you too? I hate when people steal things like that… XP I never got too into Yu-Gi-Oh! though (the card game at least), probably because I was still upset about how things went with my Magic cards getting stolen. All that time and effort and money gone to waste… :(

Reply

FriskyFox Reply:

I got my Yu-Gi-Oh! cards stolen, but only cause I bought those. X3 I got into Magic after, but cause I wouldn’t spend my own good money on cards that could get stolen, I was given a whole bunch of ‘em instead. Not a single one was ever stolen. EVAH. So I still kinda play when one of my foaming-at-the-mouth-for-Magic friends demands it.

I’d play ya if I could. :P

Reply

Oh yeah, that was another thing that happened to me. I had lent some of my Yu-Gi-Oh cards to someone and then they were stolen from him and I never got the cards back. I have a lot more cards now. I actually still have a binder full and some in a tin full of them. I think i have like 300-400 cards right now(and yes, i know that is not a lot for some people). i stopped buying them since they cost too much where i live now.

You should have a time where FW goes, “I can’t let you do that, Fox!!” and finally beats him… but I guess it’s funny that Damien beat him a every game invented. :P
