Okay, so…None of the stuff I ordered for my laptop arrived today. D: Er, yesterday. See, I’m writing this today, but you won’t see it until tomorrow, or today, because you’re reading this on Friday…Er…

Nevermind! A completely sketched out comic this time around, and by the looks of things, Monday will be similar. I still like how things turned out, though I wanted to do a bit with the backgrounds in color…Ah well.

Kyle finally notices the collar! And apparently, its not so bad that he’s wearing a collar, but more about the giant gold tag dangling from it. Poor FW.

Hope you all had a great week! And have a great weekend too! I’m probably going to see District 9 myself.

I’d actually say your art style looks better in pencil, definitely due to the more naturally varied line weight… Maybe you can find a way to implement that when it transitions to digital? I think it would give the comic a much fresher feel… Although maybe what I’m noticing is the lack of background coloration? Because I think possibly that the colors of the background are a bit too over saturated and compete with the characters in the normal strips… Perhaps a slight desaturation will help the characters pop more? (Except for Ms. Hope, she has a rather brilliant blue shade xD)

On the story side of things, I’ve been wondering when the issues with the collar would crop up!

I agree with you. I do so enjoy color, but the comic does look better in pencil. I love the line weight and the minor hatch shading. I know this is much more time consuming to do, but in addition to MA’s comment about the backgrounds, maybe you could try color variation on the characters themselves; highlights and shadows would really make the artwork top notch. Love the comic, keep up the great work.

Aye, that would be more time consuming! And I’d hate to start it up and not be able to keep up with it at all. XP

So! I’ll try for desaturated colors and thicker line work while inking, and see how things look from there. And thank you, I’ll keep trying my best!

Those are good points, and I have often wondered about the backgronds myself. I’m getting better with them, but they do tend to draw attention away from things. And I don’t feel comfortable having full-color characters on a simple white panel. :\

A desaturation might work, I’ll have to try that when my tablet’s fixed! I’ll also try to use a larger brush size, so the line weights will be more prominent while I’m inking the comic. Maybe that will help some.

It’s kinda creepy (in a good way) how Ms. Hope is extremely similar to my 8th grade teacher.

Oh, definitely. I just wish it’d been in color so I could have added the creepy background too, lol.

Also, I think that some of the people insulting FW fight be herbivores, which when you think about it, is not a good idea on their part.

Sorry about your delivery issues, ‘Fredoman. It’s too bad it’s not in color, but it still looks pretty good.

That being said, how awesome would it be if Kyle starts being a jerk about the collar, and Bee comes to Forest’s defense? She should totally throw a desk at Kyle. Yes, a desk. For no valid reason. And the sound effect for desk impact on Kyle’s skull should be “DESK!”

I don’t think it would detract from the general lack of seriousness in this comic… much.

True enough, depending on how you like your apostrophes. I once saw a comic where a boat came through a wall with the sound effect BOOOOAAAAT, without a ‘d even though it hit somebody. Could go either way.

Seriousness? Where? D: Haha, I’ve got some odd mixture of silly and serious going on in here usually, not sure how it ended up like that. But that might be a very interesting outcome of this whole thing! Guess we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.

I’ve always thought my sketchwork was superior to my colored stuff, and it looks like that’s still the case! I have a lot to work on when I get my tablet fixed up.

Aww, so begins the discrimination… Poor FW! I really dislike when people are just singled out like that >.> *speaks from experience* Oh well, that’s just the nature of living things… what can ya do?

As a mater of fact, yes.

I know all will be reveled about FW’s tag & collar. I also know that Ms. Hope, being the Blue Jay teacher, is attracted to anything shiny and bright (certainly the tag qualifies).

I was just messing around, and while the hour I had posted (Pacific Time) wasn’t a late hour, I was completely spent from a day of labor around the house.

Chalk up the goof-ball post from earlier as more exhaustion than anything
